All You Need To Know About Boosters

Boosters are designed to make your experience playing Candy Crush Saga a little bit easier. They are typically purchased for a nominal fee, but as you proceed through the levels, some are given to you absolutely free. If you don’t plan on buying boosters, or want to minimize the amount you spend, you must learn the best times to use them. In this guide, we’ll take a look at boosters and the best ways to maximize their potential.

Striped and Wrapped

The first booster, as its name implies, places one striped and one wrapped candy on the game board at the start of the game. The placement of the special candies is random. In essence, all this booster does is save you from spending a couple of moves creating special candies. They’ll always come in handy, but most of the time they will make a pretty nominal different.

Now, if you could choose whether the striped candy was horizontally or vertically striped, that would make this booster ideal for ingredient levels. But since you can’t it’s best to leave this booster alone.

The Coconut Wheel

The Coconut Wheel is a fun, powerful booster that produces powerful effects when swapped with other candies. For instance, match it with a normal piece and it will create three striped candies. But match it with a special, and watch magnificent things happen. For instance, if you swap it with a wrapped candy, it creates an entire line of wrapped candies. There is really no bad level to use Coconut Wheels, but because they are so powerful, it is recommended that you save them for levels you’ve been stuck on for a while.

Color Bomb

This one is pretty self-explanatory: you start the game with a disco candy randomly placed on the game board. It’s better than Striped and Wrapped but still a bit underwhelming. Still, they’re beneficial in almost level type – just be warned that they lose value in levels featuring lots of obstacles.

Timed Boosters

These timed level only boosters are very useful later on, but hardly of any value before level 100 – if only because those boosterslevels are so easy. One booster gives you an extra 15 seconds to complete the level. Use this if you find yourself consistently getting close to beating a level, but never able to finish it.

If you are really struggling with a level consider the Charm of Frozen Time. It’s expensive, but extremely powerful. Time will freeze whenever you’re not clicking on an object. With it, you really should never have trouble beating a timed level again. It’s really up to you whether or not you want to plow through timed levels, but I find that it takes some of the fun out of the game.

Jelly Fish

As you can probably guess, Jelly Fish are designed only for use on jelly levels. By matching them, you will remove three pieces of jelly. The problem is that which jelly pieces are removed is up to the computer. Therefore, it’s best to save these until only a few hard to reach jelly are left on the screen. Then it becomes a near certainty that the Jelly Fish will knock them out.

I do not want to unlock and pay for boosters but they are unlocking. Again, I do not want to pay. How do I stop this from happening? Don’t they need permission to charge me?

    • You aren’t paying for them….. At certain levels they unlock the boosters and give you like 3 of them for free. After you use those you have to CHOOSE to purchase them. If you don’t, don’t worry about it.

Also, you have to uncheck the boosters the first time you receive them, or they will be used once you press “play”. I had to restart from the beginning (not connected to facebook) in order to keep the early boosters I had gained from being wasted on the early levels.
